Bangla Trac Communications Limited is a new entrant in the telecom sector of Bangladesh as a licensed IGW. The company was awarded the license for the international gateway through a competitive auction in February 2008. Bangla Trac Communications is a sister concern of Bangla Trac Limited (exclusive dealer of Caterpillar Inc, USA in Bangladesh and doing business under the brand name of ‘Bangla CAT'). The company has been established with the aim of diversifying Bangla Trac Group's business into the telecommunication sector.
The International Gateway License enables Bangla Trac Communications Limited to act as one of the four licensed operators who can route incoming and outgoing international calls to and from Bangladesh. The license further stipulates that each of the operators is guaranteed at least 20% of the outgoing calls from Bangladesh and the potential to capture the outstanding 20%. Bangla Trac Communications Limited is committed to become the Bangladeshi gateway of choice for major carriers globally.
